About - Variety Childrens Lifeline
Variety Children's Lifeline was founded in 1982 and has been chaired by Salah M.Hassanein since then with the primary purpose of providing pediatric cardiac surgeries for underprivileged children in developing countries. Lifeline's volunteer medical mission teams travel to correspondent country hospitals to perform surgeries, provide equipment and teach specialized surgical procedures.

Lifeline considered the devastation caused by tsunami to be so great as to fit its general purpose of safeguarding the health of children throughout the world. Lifeline has partnered with Water Missions Intl to (1) sponsor production and placement of water purification systems in the tsunami affected areas; and (2) identify existing and emerging water needs as the emergency response transitions to reconstruction.

The LWTS™ can produce 40,000 liters of potable water per day, sufficient for 3,000-5,000 people. The unit is easy to maintain and has a low operating cost of about 60 cents per 1,000 gallons (4,000 liters).
